Montmartre with Amélie in 2 days

  • 8 places
  • Paris
Rue Saint-Vincent

Amélie's Paris is a village on a hill. This short trip stays almost all in Montmartre, from the lane where the film opens to the café where she works, with one stop at the pool of her father's opening portrait.

The stops

  1. 1The top of the hill

    About these stops

The film opens on this cobbled lane beside the hill's vineyard, at the second a fly lands and Amélie is conceived. Come at 7 am for an empty square, and save the basilica steps for golden hour: that is where she first watches Nino.

  2. 2Rue Lepic and around

    About these stops

Amélie's everyday village. She works at the zinc counter of the Rue Lepic café, which still serves her crème brûlée; Collignon's vegetable crates stand outside the grocery as they did in the film. Studio 28, open since 1928, still shows films in the evening.

  3. 3The opening portrait

    About these stops

The opening portrait: her father Raphaël climbs out of the water, tugging at his trunks. It is a working Art Deco public pool by Henri Sauvage, opened in 1930: bring a ticket and check the hours before you go.
