Harry Potter · Filming location

Alnwick Castle

In the story · Philosopher's Stone (film 1, 2001); Chamber of Secrets (film 2, 2002)

A real filming location. In the Outer Bailey Madam Hooch gives the first-years their first flying lesson, and Neville's broomstick runs away with him. In Chamber of Secrets the castle is seen again, in the Inner Bailey, when Harry and Ron arrive at school in the flying Ford Anglia. The castle runs free broomstick lessons on the same lawn.

In the Outer Bailey, stand with the castle walls behind you and the lawn in front: it is the frame of the flying lesson.
