In Money Heist (La casa de papel), a man known as the Professor leads a gang of robbers into Spain's Royal Mint and later into the Bank of Spain. Start in the centre: Plaza del Callao, where banknotes rain down on the crowd, is a couple of minutes from the Gran Vía. The Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Casino de Madrid and the Four Seasons hotel are all a few minutes from each other. Finish at Plaza Mayor, where the last episode was filmed.
On a second morning, take the metro north. The CSIC building, whose facade plays the Royal Mint, and Nuevos Ministerios, which plays the Bank of Spain, are about 10 minutes apart on foot. The Cuatro Torres skyscrapers and the aeronautics school in Ciudad Universitaria are further out. The Ermita de San Frutos, the hermitage that plays the gang's hideout in Italy, is a day trip by car, about 1h45 from Madrid.
Most of these buildings are seen only from the street: the Mint and bank interiors were studio sets, and the real Banco de España never appears on screen. The Círculo de Bellas Artes is the exception: its rooftop terrace is open with a ticket.
