Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who grew up on the island with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep), is to marry her fiancé Sky in the small white chapel on top of this rock. The whole island climbs up for the wedding, and here Sam (Pierce Brosnan), one of Sophie's three possible fathers, finally asks Donna to marry him. A real filming location: the chapel was dressed up for the film, while its interior was a studio set in England. A brief view of it returns in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Where to stand for the photo
From the small beach below, frame the rock with the steps zigzagging up to the chapel; from the top, look back down the steps to the sea.
Getting there
- Address: Agios Ioannis Kastri, 370 03 Glossa, Skopelos
- Transport
- By car or scooter, about 5.5 km from Glossa on a narrow road; no bus goes all the way. From Skopelos town it is about an hour by car.
- Access
- You walk down from the road, then climb about 200 steep stone steps with handrails. Wear proper shoes and bring water. It is a working church, often booked for weddings. Check before you go.
