Rosslyn Chapel

In the story · Finale: the last clue and Sophie's family

The film's finale: the last clue from the cryptex leads Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks), the Harvard symbol expert, and Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), the French police cryptologist, to this 15th-century chapel near Edinburgh, where Sophie learns the truth about her family. The interior scenes were shot here in September 2005. The chapel was under scaffolding at the time, so the wide outside views used replica walls and a scale model. The ruins of Rosslyn Castle, where the two part, are a few hundred metres to the south.

Where to stand for the photo

Outside, stand back on the west side to frame the carved buttresses and pinnacles in one shot. Inside, look up at the carved stone ceiling and the pillars; check the chapel's current photo rules on arrival.
