Two days with Philippe and Driss: the mansion of the job interview, the footbridge of the wheelchair race, the cafés of their talks, the opera that makes Driss laugh and the night drive to the Trocadéro.
The stops
1Philippe's Paris
Hôtel d'Avaray (Philippe's mansion)
Musée de la Légion d'honneur (Hôtel de Salm)
Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor
Les Deux Magots
About these stops
The Hôtel d'Avaray is Philippe's mansion, where Driss turns up for his job interview; it is the Dutch ambassador's residence, so look from the street. Nearby, the Hôtel de Salm flashes past in the night drive, the two race across the Senghor footbridge, and at dawn they talk on the terrace of Les Deux Magots.
2Earrings and the opera
About these stops
Under the Palais-Royal arches, at Le Nemours, Philippe waits for his pen pal Éléonore and loses his nerve. At Boucheron on Place Vendôme Driss bargains for her earrings as if at a market stall. The opera night, with the singing tree, was shot at the Opéra-Comique, not the Palais Garnier.
3The night drive
About these stops
Driss takes the Maserati up the Trocadéro esplanade at night, with the Eiffel Tower in the shot. Come in the evening, when the tower lights up.
