Essaouira Beach

In the story · The fall of Troy: the wooden horse on the beach

A real filming location. The Greeks' giant wooden horse, which the film presents as an offering to Poseidon, god of the sea, lies stuck in the sand of this Atlantic beach until the Trojans drag it back to their city. Greek reports add that the beaches of Essaouira were also used for the start of Odysseus' voyage home.

Where to stand for the photo

Walk south along the sand, away from the port and the walls of the old town, and frame the wide empty beach with the Atlantic on your right.
