About Sacré-Cœur

The white basilica of the Sacred Heart stands at the top of the Montmartre hill, the highest point in Paris. It was built between 1875 and 1914 and consecrated in 1919. Entry to the basilica is free, while the climb to the dome, with one of the widest views of the city, has a ticket. The steps below and the lanes of Montmartre, with the Place du Tertre and its painters, are a short walk away.
