About Tuileries Garden

The Tuileries garden was created in 1564 for Catherine de' Medici, beside a palace that burned down in 1871. André Le Nôtre, the gardener of Versailles, redesigned it in 1664 with long straight paths between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde. Today it has round ponds with green chairs, statues and a summer funfair. At its west end, the Musée de l'Orangerie shows Monet's large Water Lilies.
