About Musée d'Orsay

The Musée d'Orsay is in the Gare d'Orsay, a railway station built on the Seine for the 1900 World's Fair, and it opened as a museum in 1986. It holds the largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings in the world, with Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne and Van Gogh. The great clock of the old station, seen from inside on the top floor, frames a view across the river to the Louvre. The museum is closed on Mondays.
